METHOD FOR JUDGING DEODORIZATION CAPACITY OF DEODORIZING FILTER

PURPOSE:To correctly judge deodorization capacity of a filter by regulating the amount of a substance which is allowed to exist in an air circulation path and allowed to react with an offensive odor substance and regulating the amount of the substance which is reduced or formed in this reaction and causing color reaction in a period close to the end of lifetime of the deodorizing filter. CONSTITUTION:In an air purifier 1 performing deodorization by circulating forcedly air, air is sucked by a fan 3 to the inside of a vessel from the direction A shown in an arrow and discharged in the direction B shown in the arrow through a dust collection filter 2a and a deodorizing filter 2b and purified by repeating this movement. The following judgment filter 5 is provided on the downstream side of the filter 2b which is impregnated with both an acidic substance e.g. citric acid being allowed to react with an offensive odor substance such as NH3 and a color reagent such as methyl orange causing color reaction by these reaction. When the amount of the acidic substance is reduced by allowing the offensive odor substance to react with the acidic substance, pH is changed and the judgment filter is colored and therefore the amount of the acidic substance is regulated so that a color period is allowed to coincide with the end point period of lifetime of the deodorizing filter.
