NEW MATERIAL:Antibiotic substance SS42227B having the following physical and chemical properties. Elemental analysis (%), C 59.23, H 5.56, N 6.72; molecular formula, C31H33N3O11; FAB-mass spectrum, (M+H)<+>m/z 624; melting point, 190 deg.C (decomposition); solubility, soluble in chloroform, ethyl acetate, acetone and methanol and hardly soluble in diethyl ether, n-hexane and water; nature, basic; appearance, colorless powder; color reactions, positive to Dragendorff reagent; etc. USE:An antibacterial agent and carcinostatic agent. PREPARATION:A bacterial strain belonging to Streptomyces genus and capable of producing SS42227B [preferably Streptomyces sp. S42227 (FERM p-8443)] is cultured preferably by submerged agitation culture at about 28 deg.C for 2-4 days. |
