发明名称 FORMATION OF ALUMINA WHISKER ON SURFACE OF STAINLESS STEEL MATERIAL CONTAINING ALUMINUM
摘要 PURPOSE:To easily and effectively form alumina whiskers on the surface of a ferritic stainless steel material contg. specified percentages of Cr and Al by blasting the surface of the steel material and oxidizing it at a high temp. CONSTITUTION:The surface of a ferritic stainless steel sheet or foil contg. 11-30wt% Cr and 2-15wt% Al is blasted preferably by sandblast by which abrasive grains are projected with compressed air. Oxidation treatment is then carried out at about 850-950 deg.C in the air for about 6-24hr. By the treatment, alumina whiskers are effectively formed on the sandblasted surface layer. Even when the steel sheet or foil is bent, corrugated, cut or sheared so that it is adapted to various catalytic devices, alumina whiskers are similarly formed.
