PURPOSE:To obtain a water-absorbing paint which has water-absorbing performance imparted thereto while retaining physical properties inherent to polyolefins, by blending a mixture of a chlorinated EVA and a chlorinated PP in a specified ratio with a water-insoluble, water-absorbing resin powder. CONSTITUTION:A nonaqueous paint contains 200-1,000pts.wt. water-insoluble, water-absorbing resin powder per 100pts.wt. resin binder comprising a mixture of 50-80wt% chlorinated ethylene/vinyl acetate resin (chlorinated EVA) and a chlorinated polypropylene resin (chlorinated PP). The paint can be applied by any of coating methods for conventional solvent-based paints. However, the paint is in the form of a dispersion contg. a large quantity of a solvent having high dryness. Thus, gravure coating, roll coating, flow coating, dip coating, etc., are preferred. When the paint is applied to the surface of a polyolefin resin, water-absorbing ability can be imparted thereto.
