The present invention relates to a portable electric lamp operating on an electric supply stored in the form of cells which are recharged either by means of a solar collector/panel, or using conventional mains electricity. Referring to Figure 1, the portable electric lamp is characterised by a casing 1 carrying a solar collector/panel 2 consisting of a plate of amorphous silicon, a male plug 9 used to connect the electric lamp to the mains via a transformer, of a light bulb 3 connected to the electrical supply cells via a switch.
