PURPOSE:To inexpensively manufacture a rare earth magnet improved in irreversible temp. characteristic, by subjecting an alloy which is principally composed of Pr, Nd, Dy, Fe, and B and in which Pr and Dy contents are limited to sintering and then to aging in a specific temp. range. CONSTITUTION:In an R2T14B magnet alloy (where R represents Y and rare earth elements and T represents transition metals) composed mainly of Pr, Nd, Dy, Fe, and B, the amounts of Pr and Dy among rare earth elements are regulated to <=65at% and <=30at%, respectively. The above alloy is sintered and then aged at a temp. between 400-650 deg.C. In this way, a part of Nd in an Nd-Fe-B magnet is substituted by proper amounts of Pr and Dy so as to improve irreversible temp. coefficient. In the above alloy, cost reduction can be improved to a greater extent by the use of didymium in the place of Pr and Nd. |
