PURPOSE:To impart excellent impact resistance without detriment to heat distortion resistance, by blending a polyarylene ester with an ethylene/alkyl alpha,beta-unsaturated carboxylate/maleic anhydride copolymer. CONSTITUTION:60-99wt% polyarylene ester (A) synthesized from a dihydric phenol and an arom. dibasic acid is blended with 40-1wt% ethylene copolymer (B) composed of 50-90wt% ethylene, 5-49wt% alkyl alpha,beta-unsaturated carboxylate (e.g., ethyl acrylate) and 0.5-10wt% maleic anhydride to obtain the titled resin compsn. As the component A, those composed of a residue of bisphenol A, a residue of terephthalic acid and a residue of isophthalic acid are preferred. The resultant resin compsn. is suitable for use in the production of electrical and electronic components, automobile parts, components for office automation apparatuses, etc. |
