PURPOSE:To provide the titled compsn. having pendant hydroxyl groups, which gives a polyurethane which has excellent rigidity and resistance to impact and heat and in which impact resistance is scarcely temperature-dependent, by dispersing a specified monomer mixture in a polyol before carrying out a polymn. reaction. CONSTITUTION:5-95% (by weight; the same applies hereinbelow) monomer (a) having hydroxyl group and/or hydroxyl group-forming ester groups, consisting of 100-10% at least one monomer selected from among a polymerizable unsaturated aliph. alcohol and/or its ester, furfuryl alcohol and an N-alkylolacrylamide and 0-90% ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid glycol ester, is mixed with 5-95% unsaturated nitrile (b) and 0-60% other ethylenically unsaturated monomer to obtain a monomer mixture (B). A predetermined amount of the component B is dispersed in a polyol (A) having 2-8 hydroxyl groups and an OH equivalent of 200-4,000 and the mixture is polymerized in the presence of a polymn. initiator and optionally, an org. solvent at 60-180 deg.C to obtain the titled compsn. contg. 10-70% polymer stably dispersed in the polyol.
