976,924. Toothed gearing. HOLO-FLITE INTERNATIONAL Inc. Sept. 17, 1963 [Oct. 29, 1962], No. 36546/63. Heading F2Q. In a compact shaft-hung reduction gear an output sleeve 10 supported on the shaft of a belt conveyer or other machine is integral with a flanged disc 13 to which is bolted an internally toothed ring gear 17 driven by a pinion 27, the pinion 27 being supported in bearings 30, 36 carried respectively by an inwardly shaped part 19A of a cover 19 bolted to a housing flange 18, and by a cap 37 bolted to the cover 19. The housing 18-19 is located on the sleeve 10 by bearings 21, 22 and may be prevented from rotating by a torque arm or by direct connection with the driven machine. The disc 13 may be replaced by spokes. An input may be applied externally to an extension of the pinion shaft 34 but, as shown, this shaft is acted on by a roller detent or back stop 41 and the pinion 27 is integral with a gear 33 driven by a pinion (not shown) formed as toothing on a parallel input shaft 45. The shaft 45 is supported by bearings in the cap 37 and in an extension of the part 19A and may be driven by a prime mover either directly or through a belt or chain drive. |
