The crab for a distributor truch of a mechanised shelf handling system comprises a truch frame (3), a drive powered by motor (9), and a hoist for raising and lowering a platform (31) to engage a unit to be transported. The crab has a bogil driven by the motor. The hoist comprises a lift motor driving a crank mechanism (23) with a lever arm (29) pivotable about a hoist axis (21). The rotation causes an end of the lever arm to raise the platform. ADVANTAGE - Compact design with low drive power requirements.
