PURPOSE:To obtain a base for photography which is free from the generation of microgrit and is remarkably improved in hiding power by subjecting a titanium dioxide pigment to a coating treatment with a zircoaluminate coupling agent in the stage of producing the pigment. CONSTITUTION:There is a method for adding the zir coaluminate coupling agent to the titanium dioxide pigment in the stage of grinding the titanium dioxide pigment with a fluid energy grinder such as micronizer or jet mill in order to coat the zircoaluminate coupling gent to the particle surface of the titanium dioxide pigment. Any method is applicable as far as said agent is uniformly coated on the titanium dioxide as a result of such treatment. The amt. of the coupling agent to be coated is preferably 0.01-5wt% (calculated as solid content) by the weight of the titanium dioxide. The dispersibility of the titanium dioxide decreases and a larger amt. of the microgrit are generated if the amt. of the treatment is <0.01%. The base for photography which obviates the generation of the microgrit and is remarkably improved in the hiding power is thus obtd. |
