PURPOSE:To obtain a photosensitive body having excellent electric charge transferability and electrostatic chargeability by incorporating a prescribed amt. of hydrogen by the total carbon atom into a carbon film of an electric charge transfer layer. and subjecting said layer to a polarity adjustment by group IIIA or VA elements. CONSTITUTION:This photosensitive body is constituted of at least an electric charge generating layer 3 and the electric charge transfer layer 2 and has at least one layer of carbon contg. hydrogen (referred to as CH layer) as the charge transfer layer. The hydrogen content in the CH layer is 0.1-67atom% (atm%), and more preferably 30-60atm%. The group IIIA or Va elements are incorporated into the CH layer in order to adjust the electrostatic charge characteristic of said layer. The excellent charge transferability and electrostatic chargeability as well as the substantial surface potential in spite of the thin film thickness are thus obtd. and the joining of the charge transfer layer and charge generating layer is improved, by which the sensitivity is improved and the residual potential is decreased. |
