PURPOSE:To enhance color reproductivity and to improve reproduction of satura tion by using substantially monodispersed core/shell type silver halide grains, and employing DIR compounds in an appropriate manner to emphasize the interimage effects in both directions. CONSTITUTION:At least one of silver halide emulsion layers comprises substan tially monodispersed core/shell type silver halide grains containing silver iodide in an amount of 8-30mol% in the core. The DIR compounds are incorporated in the 2 or more emulsion layers in such an appropriate manner that the develop ment inhibitors released from the DIR compounds contained in the emulsion layers are reversed in the intensities of development inhibition in comparison with the case of exchanging the DIR compounds to be added to the emulsion layers, and further, the development inhibition action on one emulsion layer is weaker than that on the other emulsion layer, thus permitting the interimage effects in both directions to be increased between different color sensitive layers, and sharpness and graininess of an image to be enhanced. |
