PURPOSE:To form a sharp tooth profile on a cylindrical product by making the tooth profile of a mandrel and die in the specified size, in case of forming a tooth profile on a cylindrical blank material with the pressure of the die by interposing the cylindrical blank material between the mandrel which provides with a tooth profile on the outer peripheral face and plural dies having the tooth profile engaging with this tooth profile. CONSTITUTION:A tooth profile is formed on a cylindrical blank material by pressing the tooth profile engaging with the tooth profile of a mandrel from the outside of the blank material by inserting the cylindrical blank material into the outer periphery of the cylindrical mandrel having a tooth profile at the outside. In this case, the tooth profile in a sharp shape can be formed without any drop on the tooth profile to be formed in a cylindrical blank material by making the relation of 0.56<W2/W1<0.76, 0.47<l2/l1<0.67, 1.23<h2/h1<1.43, in case the groove bottom width is denoted as W1, the groove port width as l1, groove depth as h1 on the trapezoidal tooth crest size of the tooth profile of the mandrel and on the other hand, in case the crest tip width is denoted as W2, crest base width as l2, the height of the crest as h2 on the trapezoidal tooth crest size of the tooth profile of the die.
