PURPOSE:To provide a manual cable cutter for a wire rope, electric wire, etc., capable of easy cutting with a film construction and versatility by providing a fixed blade plate, movable blade plate, drive mechanism section, fixed lever and swing lever. CONSTITUTION:When a swing lever 21 is pivoted to a fixed lever 19 by a predetermined angle or more, a press claw 27 supported by a wall surface 29' is disengaged from a ratchet 24 and at the same time a detent claw 30 is also disengaged therefrom. And a knob mounted on a shaft 25 of a pinion 23 is turned to separate a press blade 10 of a movable blade plate 7 from a receiving blade 2 of a fixed blade plate 6. When a wire rope is inserted there and the swing lever 21 is pressed to swing toward the fixed lever 19, the press claw 27 engages the ratchet 24 and the detent claw 30 also engages same. And the press blade 10 of the movable blade plate 7 is shifted toward the receiving blade 2 by gear teeth 12 meshing with the pinion 23. By repeating the operation of the swing lever 21 is sequentially moved the press blade 10 toward the receiving blade 2 to shear the wire rope. Namely the wire rope can be cut off with a simple operation and large cutting force.
