In this valve plate, a bottom section (2) which slopes obliquely downwards and outwards initially adjoins the plate dome (1) to form the plate bottom, adjoining which bottom section (2) there is, in turn, a cylindrical bottom section (4) which lies substantially vertically and from whose upper end there adjoins a bottom section (5) which rises obliquely outwards and merges into the edge flange (6). Due to this geometrical shaping, the valve plate clamped on the aerosol can withstands relatively very high pressures as can occur when filling the aerosol can with a propellant gas. <IMAGE>
