A latching mechanism for electrical switching apparatuses, such as line protection circuit breakers, residual current devices and the like, during whose unlatching the bearing edge of a large holder (1) is pulled off a latch (2) by means of a trip device, as a result of which a force store is discharged to operate switching contacts.
