PURPOSE:To maintain the quality of a tooling tool, by providing a sharpening device which brings a sharpening tool into contact with the peripheral surface of the tooling tool. CONSTITUTION:A tooler table 12 is equipped with a sharpening device 30 in a slidable manner in the P direction crossing the tooler shaft. Here, at every time when a tooling on a super abrasive grain grindstone wheel 16 is performed by means of a tooling tool or after several times of tooling is performed, the peripheral surface 21a of the tooling tool 21 is sharpened such as by driving the tooling tool 21 rotatingly, then feeding the sharpening device 30 in the P direction, and putting a sharpening tool 32 into contact with the peripheral surface 21a of the tooling tool 21. As a result, sharpeness of the tooling tool 21 can be well maintained while as the super abrasive grain grindstone wheel 16 to be subjected to tooling has a low grinding resistance and thus can be well tooled, generation of burning on the grinded surface of a workpiece due to grinding can be prevented.
