PURPOSE:To drill at least a pair of holes with respective pitches in two kinds of (N-1)/2 pieces of workpieces by shifting a head provided in one row with odd number N pieces of spindles having two kinds of pitches repeated alternatively. CONSTITUTION:Connecting rods WA spaced from each other by a center distance A+B are secured fixedly to a jig pallet. Spindles 21-25 provided with desired tools 21a-25a are adapted to face five tool heads having pitches A, B repeated alternatively so that continuous holes WA-1 with pitch A are drilled by the tools 21a-24a. And the jig pallet is shifted by (A+B)/2 and the connecting rods WB are fixed spaced from each other by the center distance of A+B so that continuous holes WB-1 with the pitch B are drilled by tools 22a-25a driven with the spindles. Thus, only the spindles 21, 25 cannot work in common two types of workpieces WA, WB, and the shift distance of workpieces WA, WB will do with the average of pitches A, B.
