PURPOSE:To automate a device completely by providing a timer-incorporated controller which controls the opening and closing of the 1st-the 3rd solenoid valves and the driving of stepping motors and a device which detects, stores, and process the amount of gas sucked into measurement pipes based on the rotating speeds of the stepping motors. CONSTITUTION:The measurement pipes are filled with sample gas. The solenoid valves 1b and 1g are open, the stepping motors 3a and 6a are driven to lower the measurement pipes 2a and 5a and suck and sample the sample gas, and then the solenoid valves 1b and 1g are closed. The solenoid valves 1f and 1k are opened for a certain time and then closed again so as to balance the flow passages between the solenoid valves 1b and 1g, and 1f and 1k with the atmospheric pressure. While the solenoid valves 1e and 1j are open, the stepping motors 3a and 6a are driven to lower the liquid levels of absorbing liquids 4e and 7e in absorption containers 4d and 7d speedily until platinum wires 4a and 7a and then elevated the levels gradually to platinum wires 4b and 7b, and then the solenoid valves 1e and 1j are closed. The rotating speeds of the stepping motors 3a and 6a at this time are stored as reference rotating speeds in a control circuit 9.
