PURPOSE:To enable a compact tool rest to carry out heavy cut with large torque by providing a slide engaging means on a tool support means between a casting, a rotary tool spindle eccentrically supported on the rotational center of casing and a gear provided on the casing. CONSTITUTION:A casing 17 is fixed to a turret 2 by driving a disk brake 20 so that a rotary tool spindle 16 is rotatably driven by a drive motor 9 through a guide roller 14 engaging a transmission 23, gears 11c, 12a, 12b, 13 and a groove to work a workpiece with a tool 15. When the disk brake 20 is released by an electromagnetic clutch 21 and the motor 9 is rotated with low speed, both rotary tool spindle 16 and casing 17 are rotated with low speed. Since the rotational center CT2 of tool spindle 16 is eccentric to the rotational center CT1 of casing 17 by SF, the enter CT2, when rotated by 90 deg., shifts the engaging position of the guide roller 14 so that the center CT2 is shifted in the direction of arrow C by SF. This displacement is detected by a position coder 22. Thus, the diameter of the rotary tool spindle can be enlarged to permit heavy cut with large torque. |
