The invention relates to an opto-electronic transceiver for data transmission via pulse-shape modulated light beams, comprising an opto-electronic receiver circuit whose input circuit is formed from the series connection of a photo-sensitive component which responds to the outer light beam with a fixed and/or dynamic external resistor which is controlled by a control voltage dependent on the amplitude of noise signals. According to the invention, a further photo-sensitive component is disposed within the series connection which forms the input circuit which is optically closely coupled with at least one of the transmitting LEDs of the light transmitter so that a gate circuit is produced for periodic intervention of the control voltage which has an opening function which corresponds approximately to the shape of the pulses of the transmitted light beam.
