In a door closer with a resilient return element which is connected to the door frame at one end and is fastened to the door leaf at the other end and which exerts a return moment on the latter, there is proposed a design in which the return element takes the form of a torsion-spring bar (1) which can be arranged essentially axis-parallel to the pivot axis (x-x) of the door leaf (5), with a lower end (9) engaging round the door hinge (4) and bent in a hairpin-shaped manner relative to the hook (8), and with an upper end (10) bent approximately at right angles to the adjusting lever (11). Furthermore, a fastening element (2) which can be secured to the door leaf (5) and which cooperates with the door closer (20) or with its adjusting lever (11) is provided for the upper end (10) of the torsion-spring bar (1). <IMAGE>
