For easier manufacture and operation and for improving the musical usability, the transverse flute with drawing system according to Main Application P 3540775.1 has a scissors mechanism instead of a drawing-bar mechanism. The starting piece (2) of the telescopic pipe, which is pushed onto the flute headpiece (1), is connected rigidly to a guide rail (23) which runs parallel below the whole telescopic pipe and, via the connection bow (26), forms a rigid unit with the key ladder. In the guide rail (23), given central shafts (24) of the scissors linkage (22) run, which are coupled to the ends of the pipe segments (7). They bring about their simultaneous and uniform movement during drawing together or apart of the scissors linkage by a thumb ring. <IMAGE>
