The invention relates to an over-centre clamping device for holding a workpiece on a supporting part. Clamping devices of this type are used in production and assembly wherever workpieces have to be held temporarily in a manner secure against slipping for assembly or welding. By pivoting the actuating arm of the clamping device from the opened rest position in the closing turning direction into the closed work position, the workpiece can be securely clamped on the supporting part. To reliably prevent an unintentional loosening of the over-centre clamping device clamping in the workpiece when handling the equipment, the invention provides for the clamping device to be equipped with a catch which prevents pivoting of the actuating arm opposite to the closing turning direction and thus release of the clamping action.
