Insertion of a suppository with fingers of different thickness is often painful for sufferers from haemorrhoids or infants and involves a certain risk for the patient and his/her helper due to serious infectious diseases. Moreover, elderly patients are often unable to introduce the suppository themselves. This may be remedied by a disposable insertion cannula that has been developed on the basis of experience gained with patients and helpers. In a first embodiment, it comprises a special pressboard sleeve (1) for suppositories, with rounded ends (2), an outer smooth jacket (3) with a central hole (4) for the blocking cotton swab stick (5) for a fixed penetration depth, and an ejecting cotton swab stick (6). In a second embodiment the special sleeve has no central hole but additionally it has a blocking disc (7) for an adjustable penetration depth also for children. For a new "suppository hygiene" the following is to be supplied with suppositories and, where appropriate, lubricant portions: first of all, special sleeves with central hole or, secondly, special sleeves without central hole but with blocking discs. This can be supplemented by the consumer himself/herself with conventional cotton swab sticks and can be disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner after a single use. <IMAGE>
