<p>PURPOSE:To drive picture element electrodes without providing an external driving circuit on the outside of a substrate by forming a row-direction driving circuit array and a column-direction driving circuit array with plural thin film transistors Trs in the peripheral part of a display area on the substrate. CONSTITUTION:Data-side shift registers 90 and 91, dummy cells 94 and 95 which generate a feedback signal of the last stage, and sampling Trs H1-Hn1 are provided on the insulating substrate and are arranged vertically symmetrically. Gate-side shift Trs 92 and 93 and dummy cells 96 and 97 are arranged horizontally symmetrically. This driving circuit is formed with Trs using Si thin films. Thus, picture element electrodes are driven without providing an external driving circuit on the outside of the substrate. Since the parasitic capacity of a clock line on the insulating substrate is several pF, the power consumption is reduced considerably and the speed is raised.</p> |
