PURPOSE:To detect abnormality of a sensor in its regular use, by comparing a sensor output with the set value in its regular use. CONSTITUTION:Outputs of lead switch SW1 for detecting on engine rpm, lead switch SW2 for detecting a vehicle signal, clutch switch SW3 for detecting a clutch pedal stroke, brake switch SW6 for detecting a brake pedal stroke and further, outputs of throttle sensor, etc. are introduced into an electronic central processing unit CPU respectively. On the other hand, thresholding values of various sensors in their regular use are set in the CPU and these set values are compared with outputs of various sensors and upon finding any abnormality in the sensor, vehicle speed sensor abnormality indicator LED-S, engine rpm sensor abnormality indicator LED-E, throttle angle sensor abnormality indicator LED-A, etc. are lighted. As the sensor output is compared with the set value in its regular use for detecting normal or abnormal functioning of the sensor, abnormality of the sensor in its regular use for each sensor can be detected and such change of characteristic as deterioration etc. of detecting output of the sensor can also be available.
