PURPOSE:To realize size reduction and efficient arrangement by displacing at least one of plural photoscanning means in the opposite directions from other photoscanning means. CONSTITUTION:Two couples of four optical scanning devices 3Y, 3M, 3C and 3BK are opposite each other and the scanning directions of the opposite optical scanning devices, i.e. rotating directions of rotary polygon mirrors are made opposite to make the scanning directions of a device body coincident, so that photodetectors can be arranged on the same side. Therefore, the photodetectors are adjusted on the same side and respective driving systems, etc., are normally arranged at the peripheries of photosensitive drums because of the mechanism of an image forming device, and installed on the same side in terms of space, so the arrangement does not depend upon the focal length of the optical scanning devices. Consequently, the size reduction and the free arrangement of photoscanning means are realized and they are arranged efficiently.
