[Also in Division C3] An olefin polymerisation catalyst is prepared by mixing "TiCl 3 " in a hydrocarbon solution of an organo aluminium compound, heating the mixture to a temperature of 20-80‹C and reacting therewith ethylene in an amount of from 0.25 to 2.50 gms. per millimole of Ti to decrease the solubility of TiCl 3 , in the hydrocarbon solution, and thereafter separating the treated TiCl 3 , washing it at least once with an inert organic liquid and recovering the treated catalyst particles.
