SEGMENT DIGITAL-TO-ANALOG CONVERTER

The converter uses a resistance network which contains an R-2R network and a number of parallel-connected resistors forming segments which are equally large and equal to the input resistance of the R-2R network. Apart from better compensation for the relative error and lower power loading of the resistors, the division of the MSB step into a number of smaller steps results in lower requirements for the relative accuracy of the resistors without having to correct the network.
