A dye-receiving element for thermal dye transfer comprises a support having thereon a dye image-receiving layer comprising a polycarbonate, such as a bisphenol A polycarbonate, having a number average molecular weight of at least 25,000. Use of this material reduces an undesirable relief image which otherwise tends to be obtained.
