A nuclear reactor which comprises, in a reactor vessel, a core with axial coolant inlet and outlet conduits placed above the core and assemblies for guiding control rods 41 which receive control-rod actuators above the core 22 and which has a reinforcement ring or perforated cover 71 surrounding the assemblies for guiding the control rods 41 in order thus to contain coolant before it reaches the outlet nozzles 15. The cover 71 causes the distribution of the coolant which flows transversely over a large surface area, so that its speed is substantially lower than the resonant velocity at which magnitude vibrations of substantial amplitude, or cavitation, are induced in the components.
