PURPOSE:To make it possible to accurately detect the shortcircuit area of a printed wiring board within a short time with good accuracy, by providing an insert pin, a thermal camera and a microdispenser etc. CONSTITUTION:A through-hole insert pin 7, a thermal camera 2 and a microdispenser 8 etc. are provided and a printed wring board 5 is allowed to stand directly under the mirror 2' attached to the camera 2 during operation and insert pins 7, 7' are respectively inserted in the through-holes of a terminal. Subsequently, when a required current is made to flow to the pins 7, 7' from a DC power source 6, a shortcircuit area generates heat within an extremely short time and infrared rays due to said heat are detected by the camera 2 and a thermal image 9 appears on a monitor 4. The leading end of a nozzle 8' is allowed to approach the position on the wiring board 5 coinciding with said image 9 and, if instantaneous pressure is applied to the nozzle 8' from the microdispenser 8, the shortcircuit area is formed on the wiring board 5 and indicated.
