PURPOSE:To surely fix active material itself and active material to a grid by applying a hot-melt material whose viscosity is kept low to the end of a negative plate comprising expanded grid, and penetrating and solidifying it. CONSTITUTION:A negative plate comprising expanded grid for lead-acid battery is manufactured in such a way that rifts are formed at regular intervals in a lead or lead alloy sheet, the sheet is expanded to form a net, and active material is impregnated in the net, then the net is cut in a desired dimension. A hot-melt material 4', whose viscosity is kept low, made of amorphous polypropylene is applied to the cut end, in which no left and right frame bones exist, of an expanded grid 3 and penetrated and solidified. By the hot melt material 4', the active material 1' itself, and the active material 1' and the grid 3 are surely fixed. The expansion or peeling off of the active material is retarded by the simple method, and short circuit caused by contact with a positive plate is prevented. |
