PURPOSE:To facilitate assembly by forming an intermediate plate of a multiple cylinder rotary compressor with a material having a thermal expansion coeffi cient such that the inside diameter of the intermediate plate is smaller than that of a cylinder at a normal temp., while becomes the same diameter at an operating temp. CONSTITUTION:The intermediate plate 10 of a multiple cylinder rotary compressor is formed with a material having a linear expansion coefficient larger than that of a cast iron cylinder 6, e.g., copper, brass, etc. And, the intermediate plate 10 is formed in such a way that its outside diameter is smaller than that of the cylinder 6 at a normal temp. while becomes the same as that of the cylinder 6 at an operating temp. Thereby, when assembling a compressor under a normal temp., the intermediate plate 10 can be assembled separately from bearing end plates 5a, 5b, facilitating the adjustment of clearance and the centering of a shaft.
