PURPOSE:To improve the storing efficiency of a memory medium by maintaining the text data corresponding to each generation in the form of a differential against the reference text data. CONSTITUTION:A text storing means 6 produces a differential between the text data on a produced new generation and the reference text data stored in a library file 8 and stores only said differential into a library file 9 in place of the text data on the new generation. A text extracting means 5 restores the text data on the corresponding generation from the reference text data of the library 8 and the differential corresponding to each generation and extracts the text data. A text collective updating means 7 produces a differential between the text data on the new generation and the text data on the original generation and updates collectively the differentials of other generations stored in the library files according to an instruction inputted from a user.
