PURPOSE:To enable the device to work with its max. cooling capacity regardless of engine coolant temp. in the radiator, if such is required, by impressing voltage on a bimetal for controlling operation of a valve, which is to open and close a hole provided at a storage for a viscous fluid to be used in a fan coupling, and by heating the bimetal directly. CONSTITUTION:A slip ring 20 is mounted on a bimetal 14, which actuates a slide valve 7, and connection is made to the power 19. In linkage with an airconditioner switch 18, power is directly supplied to this bimetal 14 from the power supply 19. The bimetal 14 will thus run temperature and expand to result in rotation of the slide valve 7. Thereby an inlet hole 12 is opened to allow influx of viscous fluid 4 into a working chamber 16, and the fluid sent to a labyrinth part 11 intrudes into gaps formed by ridges 9, 10 of the driving part 2 and driven part 3. Thus rotation of the driving part 2 is transmitted to the driven part through the viscous fluid 4, and a cooling fan is rotated. The device can thus work with its max. performance regardless of the engine coolant temp. within the radiator, if desired. |
