PURPOSE:To reduce the magnetic reluctance of an electromagnet by bending the intermediate part of a flat bent portion inward so that the ends are opposed to form a C-shaped pole piece, and then magnetically annealing it. CONSTITUTION:Both ends of a rod-like magnetic material 1 are formed by pressure to form flat portions 2, the flat portions are so bent at its base portions so that the flat portions are opposed, the intermediate parts of the bent flat portions are further so bent inward that the ends are opposed to form a C- shaped pole piece 3, and then magnetically annealed. Then, axially split coil frames 5 are mounted from both sides to the rod-like central portion 4 of the pole piece, the coil frames are mounted on the pole pieces, and rotated to wind a coil 6 on the frame. Thus, a magnetic reluctance generated when the pole piece is bent can be reduced.
