PURPOSE:To obtain a mat with which a remaining surplus fertilizer accumulated on the surface of a soil can be effectively removed, by forming a mat from a material which is capable of absorbing water-soluble components having capillarity, such as porous mineral matter. CONSTITUTION:A mat (a) for removing a remaining surplus fertilizer is obtained by forming a mat of a thickness of 3mm or more from a material (e.g. polyurethane) which is capable of absorbing water-soluble components having capillarity, e.g., porous mineral matter, cellulosic matter, porous organic synthetic matter, or fibrous matter. A soil 11 in a greenhouse A is sprinkled sufficiently with water slightly in excess to be rendered wet. The aforementioned mat (a) provided with a hole 14 at a location corresponding to a crop 13 is laid in close contact with the surface of the soil 11 to allow a remaining surplus fertilizer 12, such as salts concentrated near the surface of the soil 11, to be absorbed together with the water in the soil 11 by the mat (a) by its capillarity. Then, only the water in the mat (a) is evaporated by the heat in the greenhouse A. |
