PURPOSE:To reduce the movement quantity of an ink ribbon when color printing is transferred to black color printing and to shorten a ribbon changing time, in the ink ribbon of a printer having a black color and at least one color other than the black, by arranging the black color to both sides of the color other than the black color. CONSTITUTION:In the color arrangement of the ink ribbon of a printer, when the printing of the part of a blue color 2 or the part of a red color 2 is transferred to that of a black color 1 or 5, if an ink ribbon is moved by upper one stage or lower one stage, said printing can be transferred to the part of the black color 1 or 5. When the printing of the part of a yellow color 3 is transferred to the printing of the black color 1 or 5, the ink ribbon is moved by upper two stages or lower two stages to make it possible to transfer said printing to that of the part of the black color 1 or 5.
