METHOD FOR PREPARATION OF CARBONE MATERIAL

Carbon articles are prepared by moulding a precursor resin and then carbonising. The resin is defined as (A) initially having at least 3% of spherical particles with a diameter of 0.1-150microns prior to moulding(B) at least 50% passing a 100mesh Tyler sieve(C). A free phenol content of upto 500ppm and (D) is the condensation product of a phenol and an aldehyde. The resin having an infra red adsorption with a D990-1015/D 1600 ratio of 0.2 to 9.0 and a D890/D1600 ratio of 0.09-1.0 Opt. the resin can include a nitroqen compound.
