[Also in Division G1] Apparatus for recording the position of a rotatably mounted first indicating member 2 of a meter relative to a second indicating member comprises a first recording element 4 carried by the first indicating member, trans. port means 7 for moving a magnetic tape or wire along a path following an arc of a circle concentric with the axis of rotation of the first member and closely adjacent to the path of movement of the recording element, a second recording element 9 (Fig. 1, not shown) associated with the second indicating member being disposed adjacent the path of movement of the tape or wire, and means 6 for applying a pulse of electric current to the elements simultaneously to magnetically mark their relative positions on the tape or wire. In the embodiments described the recording elements are in the form of loops arranged to mark the tape or wire inductively. The means for applying an electric current pulse to the loop 4 comprises a closed magnetic core 5 with one or more windings 6 at some point out of range of the loop which is also formed around the core so as to form a transformer having one or more primary windings formed by windings 6 and a secondary winding constituted by the loop 4. The second recording element may be mounted in a fixed position at the zero point of the scale. |
