PURPOSE:To stop recording operation when a recording medium is not fed normally, by providing a detection means for detecting such a state that the recording medium is not fed normally and a means for releasing the pressure contact state of a transfer medium and a pressure contact member by a detection signal. CONSTITUTION:An yellow roller Y is contacted with a pressure contact roller 3 under pressure and a recording head 5 is contacted with the roller Y to start recording. Whereupon, the recording head 5 generates heat corresponding to image information to heat and melt the ink on the surface of the yellow roller Y according to an image pattern and the molten ink is transferred to a recording sheet 8 to finish yellow transfer. When there is no recording sheet 8, the light of a light emitting element 13a is not blocked even if a timing roller 11 rotates by the predetermined number of lines to be always received by a light receiving element 13b. The presence of the recording sheet 8 can be detected by this difference and recording operation is stopped. |
