PURPOSE:To obtain the title catalyst component which can control the formation of giant particles without detriment to its high stereoregularity and high catalytic activity, by contacting a specified solid product with a titanium halide compound and an electron-donating compound in turn. CONSTITUTION:A magnesium dialkoxide (A) is contacted with a silicon compound (B) having a hydrogen-silicon bond in the presence of a hydrocarbon medium. The obtained solid product is contacted with a titanium halide compound (C) in the presence or absence of a hydrocarbon medium, and an electron- donating compound is added to the system and contacted with the mixture. It is desirable that said magnesium dialkoxide (A) is dried by, especially, heating in a vacuum before use. Examples of the silicon compounds (B) include HSiCl3, HSiC2H5(OC2H5)2 and C6H5CH3SiH2. Examples of the electron-donating compounds which can be desirably used include carboxylic acids, carboxylic acid esters, alcohols and ethers.
