PURPOSE:To obtain the title polyester which is free of yarn break and can give a product of excellent surface smoothness, by reacting a dicarboxylic acid or the like with ethylene glycol and adding a SiO2 sol, a S-containing compound and a Cl-containing compound in amounts satisfying specified relationships to the reaction system in an arbitarary stage of the reaction. CONSTITUTION:A sol (C) is obtained by mixing a sol (a), concentration <=50wt%, obtained by adding SiO2 of an average particle diameter of 0.01-2.0mu to water or ethylene glycol, a sulfur-containing compound (b) (e.g., Na2SO4) and a chlorine-contaning compound (c) (e.g., NaCl) n such amounts that the relationships I, II and III (wherein S is a ratio of the sulfur in compound (b) to SiO2, and Cl is a ratio of the chlorine in component (c) to SiO2, in terms of ppm) hold. A dicarboxylic acid (esterifiable derivative) (A) is transesterified, for example, with ethylene glycol (B), and component Ci s added to the reaction system in an arbitarary stage of the reaction to obtain the title polyester freed of secondary aggloerates. |
