MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

摘要

PURPOSE:To maintain a good S/N ratio under various environmental conditions by providing a thin ferromagnetic metallic film on one face of a high-polymer film, forming a vapor deposited film having 0.3-0.7 filling factor on the other face and disposing a lubricant on both faces. CONSTITUTION:The thin ferromagnetic metallic film 6 consisting of a Co-O film having 0.12mum thickness is provided on one face of the high-polymer film 5 consisting of a polyethylene naphthalate having 9mum thickness and the vapor deposited Ni film 7 having 0.3-0.7 filling factor is formed on the other face. The lubricant layers 8, 9 consisting of a stearic acid are formed on both these faces by a both-faces vapor deposition method. Since the lubricant is disposed on both the faces, the starvation of the lubricant during the use in a winding state is obviated. Since the filling factor is adequately set, the output fluctuation is surely prevented. The good S/N ratio is thus maintained even if the medium is used under various environmental conditions.
