PURPOSE:To omit or simplify a turn-off power supply circuit of a GTO and obtain a current waveform having a good current rise rate by applying the energy of a snubber capacitor between the cathode and the gate of the GTO by a saturable transformer. CONSTITUTION:A saturable transformer 5 is provided which supplies the discharging current of a snubber capacitor 3 to the gate of a GTO 1 and discharges the excess energy of the snubber capacitor 3. In a period A, a supply voltage E is impressed to the GTO element 1. If a switching element 4 is turned on in a period C, the electric charge of the snubber capacitor 3 is discharged through the saturable transformer 5 and the switching element 4. Simultaneously, the GTO gate current is supplied to the gate part of the GTO element 1 through the saturable transformer 5, and the GTO 1 is turned on. The saturable transformer 5 is saturated to discharge quickly the excess electric charge of the snubber capacitor 3, and charging is started in accordance with the voltage impressed to the GTO in the next cycle. |
