PURPOSE:To enable the recording and reading of a signal without providing a reflective layer comprising an inorg. compound, by forming a recording layer with a thickness of 50-300nm containing a specific phthalocylanine dye in a transparent resin substrate. CONSTITUTION:An org. solvent solution of a composition containing 100-80pts. wt. of a phthalocyanine dye represented by general formula (I) and 0-20pts.wt. of a binder is contacted with a transparent resin substrate to form a recording layer with a thickness of 50-300nm containing the phthalocyanine dye represented by the general formula (I) in said transparent resin substrate. The transparent resin substrate desirably has light transmissivity of 85% or more and low optical anisotropy. The thickness of the recording layer in an optical recording medium is pref. 50-400nm as an approximate standard and further pref. 60-250nm. The recording layer itself has considerably high reflectivity and also simultaneously has function as a reflective layer. The optical recording medium is enabled in the focus control or track control of laser beam even if any reflective layer comprising an inorg. compound is not provided as was conventional. |
