PURPOSE:To effectively improve the corrosion preventing property of a plated product without deteriorating the appearance or color tone by neutralizing a specified vinyl copolymer with an org. acid to obtain a water soluble acrylic paint for cationic electrodeposition and by forming an electrodeposited paint film on the plated product with the paint. CONSTITUTION:An ethylenic unsatd. monomer having an aminimido group represented by the formula (where R1 is H or methyl, each of R2 and R3 is 1-4C alkyl and R4 is H, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl or alkaryl) is copolymerized with an ethylenic unsatd. monomer having an amino group, a hydroxyalkyl deriv. or acrylic acid and alpha,beta-ethylenic unsatd. monomer such as alkyl acrylate in a water soluble org. solvent. The resulting vinyl copoly mer is neutralized with an org. acid to obtain a water soluble or water dispersi ble acrylic paint for cationic electordeposition. An electrodeposited paint film of a prescribed thickness is formed on the plated surface of a prescribed plated product with the paint. |
